    Halesowen was a settlement in Domesday Book, in the hundred of Clent and the county of Worcestershire.. It had a recorded population of 81 households in , putting it in the largest 20% of settlements recorded in Domesday. The Cornbow Shopping Centre, previously known as 'The Precinct', was constructed by Worcestershire in The centre was typical of the open-plan, windswept designs of its era.
